DAVE DEXTER MUSIC
ORCHESTRAL, CLASSICAL AND CHORAL COMPOSITION
Works for STRING QUARTET
My smallest-scale pieces for conventional string quartet instrumentation (2 violins, viola & cello).
DESCENDENTEM sicut columbam
00:00 / 02:44
Notes: a nearly straight arrangement of my choral setting of Matthew 3:16-17, composed to span a range of choral orchestration - beginning and ending with simple homophony, with a section of solo, duo and trio voices building to the centrepiece of dramatic polyphony.
concordance
00:00 / 02:28
Notes: more determinedly Classical in nature; a whimsical flimsy of a piece suited for dancing and masquerades.
st clement's isle
00:00 / 02:14
Notes: another string arrangement of an SATB choral piece, and the first full work I ever recorded.
FOLLOWED BY SILENCE
00:00 / 02:17
Notes: originally an orchestral piece called "Excessive Dragons", a title that caused more questions than any other part of my repertoire.
